Russia launched a wave of deadly "kamikaze" drone attacks on Kyiv, Ukraine officials say, and a suspected serial killer is caught in California. Plus, a Starbucks barista starts a debate about what exactly constitutes an order of black coffee. |

Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv with a wave of "kamikaze" drones this morning, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The drones caused four explosions in a central district of the city, and Ukrainian officials also reported drone strikes in the southern city of Mykolaiv. Ukraine warned earlier this month about Moscow's increasing use of Iranian-made drones to attack civilian and infrastructure targets. |

After the city of Stockton, California, had been frightened by a suspected serial killer for more than a year, police arrested Wesley Brownlee, 43, over the weekend in connection with six homicides and one injury shooting that began in April 2021. "Our surveillance team followed this person while he was driving," the Stockton police chief said. "He was on a mission to kill. He was out hunting. We are sure we stopped another killing." Investigators used ballistic evidence to connect the shootings, which involved mostly Latino men. The district attorney said formal charges will be announced tomorrow. |

Arizona State University senior Everett Milloy, 21, was diagnosed earlier this year with basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer, after years of swimming outside under the blazing Arizona sun. It appeared as a reddish spot on his cheekbone, and a biopsy confirmed that it was cancer. "It was terrifying," he told us. "You don't really think that you're ever going to be getting a call like that at this age." Doctors removed skin on the affected area layer by layer until no more cancer cells were found when the tissue was examined under a microscope. Milloy documented his journey with self-portraits, including the jagged stitches on his face after the surgery. "I always like to tell people that I got a facelift at 21." |

☕ A Starbucks barista raised a debate over black coffee and why some orders make her 'internally scream.' |

Forget the seven-pump caramel, four Splenda, extra hot, double whip Starbucks order: Sometimes even a simple black coffee can make baristas roll their eyes, according to one worker. TikToker @thehighbarista, who goes by Danielle, has ignited a debate by defining black coffee as just a coffee with nothing else. "And so when you order a black coffee and then say you want to add sugar or cream — that's not a black coffee anymore," she said. In fact, asking for those extras make her "internally scream." Other baristas chimed in to say, "Exactly!" Meanwhile, one commenter noted, "I like my cream on the side so there is reason for me saying black coffee." We'd like this debate to be hot, but not too hot. |

Why leave baby teeth hidden away somewhere for posterity when they can be used for hilarious artwork? Claire Linkhart had to show the world on TikTok after she discovered that her husband's baby teeth had been immortalized in the toothy grin of a wooden beaver he kept as a family heirloom. Rob's late grandmother had beavers made for him and his younger brother at a craft fair, and Rob's is now on display in their family's dining room. However, the beaver has raised some questions for the couple's daughters, who are 8 and 5. "The older one has already asked how the beaver got daddy's teeth from the Tooth Fairy," Claire told us. |
