Exercise is crucial for older adults as it can improve balance and reduce the risk of falls, improve cognitive function, prevent disease and improve overall health. One move to try is an exercise called "dead bugs." It's a great way to hit the core in a low-impact way without overstraining your body and joints. Lie down flat on your back so that your shoulders and low back remain flat on the floor. Next, lift your hands above your shoulders. Then, lift your legs and bend your knees. Exhale, engaging the core, as you slowly lower your opposite arm and leg (left leg and right arm), hovering them above the floor. Return to the starting position. Repeat on the opposite side. Go for 5 repetitions on each side. Tap the link to see how it's done and discover all seven exercises for older adults. |
