Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy said Monday that he hopes to reach a deal with his Republican counterparts on new gun bills "by the end of this week." The talks have centered on background checks, red flag laws, mental health and school security. They come after a wave of mass shootings, including in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas, that left 31 people dead. Police in Philadelphia also said Monday that they arrested a second suspect in connection with a mass shooting there over the weekend. . |
