In a speech last night, President Biden called for a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, strengthened background checks, and more changes aimed at gun safety. His remarks come amid a wave of mass shootings, including ones in New York, Texas and one Wednesday in which police said a shooter killed four people at a Tulsa hospital just hours after purchasing an AR-15-style rifle. Three more people were killed, including the suspected gunman, in a shooting outside an Iowa church just last night.

It was a royal reunion two years in the making. Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, attended this morning's National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, marking their first public appearance with the royal family since stepping back from their duties as senior royals in 2020. The service highlighted the second day of the four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrating the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who was not present at the church this morning. Harry and Meghan were also in attendance at yesterday's events, but were noticeably absent from the royal family's traditional appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

'Moorhen' and 21 other words spell victory for Texas eighth grader in a historic Scripps National Spelling Bee win.

Harini Logan, 14, from San Antonio won the first lightning round in the history of the Scripps National Spelling Bee to take home the title last night in the 94th edition of the prestigious competition. She spelled 22 words in a 90-second speed round, ultimately nailing "moorhen" (an aquatic bird) to defeat Colorado's Vikram Raju and take home the $50,000 first prize. "This is just such a dream," she said. "Wow! I'm just overwhelmed."

A woman lost her husband to undiagnosed Lyme disease that caused Alzheimer's-like symptoms. Here's what she learned.

Nicole Bell shared how, at just 60, her husband began showing signs of cognitive decline that was consistent with late-stage Alzheimer's disease. However, PCR tests found he had three tick-borne infections, including Lyme disease, even though he never got a fever or rash.
