Recently, it was reported that a woman who ingested large doses of hemp oil and another plant compound to relieve stress had to be hospitalized in what may be a cautionary tale for people taking herbal supplements. The woman had been taking up to six times the recommended dose of hemp oil supplements, doctors wrote. But this is an isolated incident. CBD is pretty safe, even at relatively high doses, said Dr. Leigh Vinocur, an emergency doctor in Baltimore, Maryland, and a national spokesperson for the American College of Emergency Physicians. Vinocur would never recommend taking more than the suggested dose.
