txtWeb in August: Autofare, txtBrahma Winners & more

Hi There!

It's been a phenomenal month on txtWeb and you guys have done such a great job in building creative, out-of-the-box, awesome apps and app creators. Let's get right to the updates for the month of August…

@autofare recognized by Bangalore Traffic Police

@autofare developed by Sandeep Bhaskar was recognized and lauded by the Bangalore Traffic Police. This August, txtWeb and Bangalore Traffic Police teamed up to spread awareness about the app which provides accurate fares, distance between the source and destination and popular landmarks. The app was hailed as the solution auto commuters have been looking for. Kudos to Sandeep and we look forward to many great apps from our developers that help citizens in their everyday troubles. Check out the coverage in the Times of India, Deccan Herald, New Indian Express and Live Mint.

Behold…the new txtBrahmas

In July, we challenged you to become txtBrahmas and asked you to build app creators. Our developers not only rose to the challenge, they surpassed every expectation by building innovative and creative app creators that were easy to understand by an end-user. In fact, the entries were so great that we almost doubled prize money handing out rewards of over 50,000 INR. Congratulations to the winners Murali Krishna, Prashanth Reddy, Sijo John, Vishal Sancheti, Hardik Vegad, Sunny Gulati and Kartik EC.

Developer of the Week

Here's our ode to some of the awesome apps created in the month of August. You guys continue to blow us away and each week a deserving victor walks away with a 500INR Gift Voucher.  Who will be declared developer of the week today? Watch out for the result in our Developer Group on Facebook.

Developer Bytes: Prayash Mohapatra

This month, we interviewed Rock the Vote Winner and awesome txtWeb developer Prayash Mohapatra on his experience on the txtWeb platform, what motivated him to build txtWeb apps and why he thinks SMS apps really matter. Here's an excerpt of what he had to say "SMS is still an important feature that people use. Given poor internet connectivity throughout the nation, especially in remote areas, SMS really bridges the gap to get information from the vast resources of the internet. I think it's a feature phone's gateway to internet." Read the full interview here.

We look forward to more exciting apps from you in September!

Happy txtWebbing!
