Jennifer Crumbley, the Michigan woman charged in connection with her son Ethan's deadly school shooting in 2021, was convicted yesterday of four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Crumbley became the first parent to be held criminally responsible for a mass shooting committed by their child. She faces up to 15 years in prison for each count and will be sentenced on April 9. "The thing that really hammered it home was that she was the last adult with the gun," one juror told NBC News. Crumbley's husband is expected to stand trial in March on the same charges. Here's the latest. |

A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution for alleged criminal acts he committed as president in trying to overturn the 2020 election. "For the purpose of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant," the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia wrote in its ruling. Trump has asserted that former presidents have blanket immunity from prosecution for any acts committed as president. He is now expected to appeal to the Supreme Court to prevent the trial from going ahead as scheduled. Here's the latest. |

In the wake of country music star Toby Keith's death at 62 from stomach cancer, doctors are warning that signs of the disease can often be overlooked. "A lot of times, patients don't get significant symptoms until the tumor is far advanced," a gastroenterologist told TODAY.com. "You might get a little bit of indigestion or abdominal pain (or) nausea. But those are symptoms that we all get and are easy to ignore." Excessive tobacco and alcohol use can also be factors. "The lifestyle piece is hugely important to cancer," the doctor said. Here's what to watch for. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
A husband and wife who each work two jobs used a corporate CEO approach when it came to the household chores: They outsourced them. Katrina Ivan, a science teacher in Missouri, shared a note on TikTok that she left for her son's babysitter as an experiment. She and her husband offered the babysitter extra pay to handle tasks like organizing toys ($10), cleaning the fridge ($15), wiping down glass mirrors ($10) and more. "She was like, 'Heck yeah!' and got to work right away," Ivan told TODAY.com. The Ivans think they may have found the solution to feeling overwhelmed from housework. "Outsourcing is the answer," Katrina said. "The next time (she) came to babysit, she did everything on the list." Was it a good idea? Take our poll here. |
