Israel's military ordered the entire population of northern Gaza to evacuate south, leaving more than a million people to decide whether to abandon their homes ahead of a potential ground assault by Israeli troops. Hamas urged Gazans to ignore it, and a United Nations spokesperson said such a move was impossible without "devastating humanitarian consequences." Israel's army said the directive was intended to minimize civilian casualties in the war with Hamas. Here's the latest. |

Majority Leader Steve Scalise informed Republicans last night that he was dropping his bid to be speaker of the House, one day after he was nominated for the House's top position. "Our conference still has to come together and is not there. There are still some people that have their own agendas," the Louisiana rep told reporters. Scalise's withdrawal sends Republicans back to the drawing board as they try to find a candidate who can secure enough votes to replace ousted former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Scalise failed to get the 217 votes needed to secure the job, as more than a dozen Republicans had come out against him. Continue reading. |

A busy workday can turn lunch into a "I don't know, I'll just have whatever" meal of the day, when healthy eating might not be a priority. We spoke to cardiologists about what they eat for lunch for their own heart health and how they make good choices while on the go. It may not look pretty, but adherents of the ancient healing technique of gua sha say it doesn't hurt at all and can bring relief to stress, anxiety and chronic pain. Also known as "skin scraping" or "scraping therapy," it involves stroking lubricated skin in one direction with a smooth, edged tool to soothe tension. "It's like loosening a stuck jar," one practitioner told us. Gua sha is mainly performed on the neck, back and shoulders and is likened to a deep tissue massage, even though it leaves what can look like a rash. Here's what to know. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
(caption above) "So I got this bracelet from Hoda and Savannah ..." Taylor Swift made another appearance at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce, and she was once again joined by Kelce's mom, Donna, in a luxury box. Mama Kelce was photographed wearing a very familiar-looking orange friendship bracelet, the trademark of all Swifties. It was given to her by Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb during her appearance on TODAY last week. And it may have brought the Chiefs some luck, as they beat the Broncos 19-8 and are now 3-0 in games where Taylor and Donna have been in attendance. Meanwhile, Travis had his best game of the season with nine catches for 124 yards in the win. |
