Uncertainty reigns in the House of Representatives after a historic vote to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Plus, Valerie Bertinelli's poignant message about self-acceptance while wearing her self-proclaimed "fat clothes," and how to develop a nighttime routine to help you fall asleep faster. |

The House of Representatives voted yesterday to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker, marking the first time in U.S. history that a speaker of the House has been voted out of office. Eight of McCarthy's Republican detractors forced him out by combining with 208 Democrats on the historic 216-210 vote to remove him. North Carolina Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry is now serving as a temporary replacement for McCarthy under House rules. So what happens next? House rules do not specify how long McHenry can remain in power before the chamber votes on a new permanent speaker, which means the House could proceed soon to the election of a new speaker or decide to hold it at a later time. McCarthy said he won't run for speaker again. Here are some possible candidates. |

Valerie Bertinelli put on the jeans and blouse she wore in her first "before" photo when she was a weight-loss spokesperson for Jenny Craig to send a message: "You are enough." The former Food Network host shared a video of herself posing in the outfit with a reflection about self-acceptance. "I've never felt more beautiful, more at peace, more mentally and emotionally stable than I do today, and I'm wearing my 'fat clothes,'" she said in an Instagram video. See the video here. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
Dorothy Hoffner put aside her walker and put on a parachute to prove a simple point. "Age is just a number," she told a cheering crowd in Ottawa, Illinois, after a historic jump. The 104-year-old from Chicago, who turns 105 in December, did a tandem skydive to become the world's oldest skydiver. She spent seven minutes descending from 13,500 feet for an achievement that Skydive Chicago is working to have certified by Guinness World Records. Sweden's Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson has the current record after jumping at 103 last year. "The whole thing was delightful, wonderful, couldn't have been better," Hoffner told The Associated Press. |
