At least 1,200 Israelis have been killed and more than 2,700 injured, and at least 1,087 people in Gaza have been killed and 5,000 injured, as the Israel-Hamas war continues following Hamas' invasion of Israel Saturday and Israel's retaliation, officials on each side said. Israeli fighter jets struck 450 targets in northern Gaza in 24 hours, while President Joe Biden condemned the attacks by Hamas as "unadulterated evil." Fears have grown for the fate of dozens of hostages captured by Hamas. An Israeli Defense Forces spokesman said "fighting will intensify" and warned that war scenes out of Gaza would be "difficult to understand and cope with." Here's the latest. |

Mary Lou Retton is critically ill with pneumonia in the intensive care unit of a hospital, her daughters said this morning. "My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life. She is not able to breathe on her own. She's been in the ICU for over a week now," McKenna Kelley wrote on a crowd-funding page. It's not clear where Retton, who lives in Houston, is being treated. Retton, 55, became a worldwide sensation when she became the first American woman to win the all-around gold medal in gymnastics at the 1984 Olympics. Continue reading. |

All the hard work of staying on a healthy diet can come undone when you reach for sweet treats or salty chips as snacks between meals. No one is busier than doctors, so we asked seven of them what kind of foods they grab in the middle of a hectic day. "You want to make sure you're getting some type of carbohydrate or starch along with some protein and some healthier, lean fats," gastroenterologist Dr. Stephanie L. Gold told us. What that means in practice are snacks like almonds, pecans, cut-up cucumbers, carrots, yogurt and more. See them all here. |

Country star and "The Voice" coach Reba McEntire loves some down home cooking, and these beer can chicken tacos are a favorite she shares with boyfriend Rex Linn. Reba likes her tacos spicy, so there's pepper vinegar, pepper sauce and hot pepper vinegar in her homemade barbecue sauce. She advises to take a big swig of the beer before inserting the can into the chicken. Once it's cooked, the meat should fall right off the bone, which makes it perfect to shred for tacos. Get the recipe. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
If you're an opponent of the football team at Azle High School in Texas and it seems like everyone who's tackling you looks exactly the same, don't be alarmed. The team has four sets of twins, three of them identical. Even head coach Devon Dorris told us it took him "probably three years to get to know their names." There's quarterback Austin May and his fraternal twin, Adam, who plays tackle. Identical twins Bradyn and Bryan Rager play on each side of the ball, and there's also Cash and Case Moore (not pictured above). Meanwhile, Dillon and Dalton Dorris are the coach's nephews. "I figured them out by 6 years old, so I was good on that," Dorris said. "The others — well, it was not always easy." See more photos here. |
