Some Republicans raised concerns that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell isn't being up front about his health issues after the senator appeared to freeze up while speaking in public for the second time in recent weeks. "If he wants to stay as leader, he needs to be transparent and open about his current condition," a House Republican who requested anonymity told NBC News. McConnell, who is 81, released a doctor's note yesterday that said he is "clear" to return to work after the latest episode. Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said yesterday that McConnell is "not fit for office," while Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett also called for him to step aside. Read more. |

Blue light-blocking glasses, which manufacturers say filter the blue light from smartphones and tablets, have jumped in popularity in recent years. Bring a New York City classic to your grill over the holiday weekend with this Roumanian steak from chef Alex Stupak, owner of Midtown Manhattan's popular Mischa restaurant (home of the $29 hot dog). If you don't have a grill, you can cook the steak in a cast iron pan over high heat. Alex recommends serving it with home fries and mushrooms. The homemade marinade, a mix of peppers, paprika, maple syrup and Worcestershire sauce, also pairs well with pork, chicken or fish. Get the recipe. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
If you're Nicole Jackson's son, what you're not gonna do is grumble about the lunch she packed, or whine about getting up early for school. What we are gonna do is crack up at these hilarious back-to-school rules from the Ohio mom who went viral on TikTok by outlining some regulations for her son, Kai, 13, as he heads off to eighth grade. "What we not gonna do is act like we can't wake up," Jackson says in the video. "You've been getting up at 6:77 every morning—and yes, I said 6:77 because it's some ungodly hour that doesn't exist—asking me about some breakfast." She also laid down the law about lunch. "What we not gonna do is complain about the lunches that are packed for you," she said. Nicole and Kai shared some laughs on TODAY, so it's all in fun. "Parenthood is a glorious experience, but it's hard," she said on TODAY. "We need to laugh at the weeds that grow in the garden." See the video here. |
