Next week Stephanie Mansour will be hosting the first ever virtual Start TODAY event sponsored by Instacart! She'll be talking all about meal prep and showing you how to make 5 dinners in less than an hour with the help of registered dietitian Vanessa Rissetto. Plus, we'll have breakout rooms for you to ask both of them questions live! Tickets are only $25 - get yours now! Start TODAY member Kerri Fitzgerald was told she could possibly need a heart transplant and would need to lose weight to qualify. Her doctor said she'd never be able to do it without weight-loss surgery. She proved him wrong and lost 110 pounds on her own — and no longer needs a heart transplant. These are the diet and fitness habits that helped her do it. Plus, this exercise seems simple, but brings on the burn while toning your core and glutes at the same time. |

Today's workout is a core routine and walk. We're halfway through the month and that means it's time to take our walks to the next level! Here's how long to walk based on your fitness level: - Beginner: 30 minutes
- Intermediate: 40 minutes
- Advanced: 40 minutes — and add speed intervals.
A new week also means a new bonus challenge. This week we're focusing on the glutes with a wall squat. A functional movement, this exercise works the glutes while also engaging the lower abdominal muscles. Start with 5 repetitions a day, and slowly build up to 20 repetitions a day by the end of the week. |

A pizza that is nutritionist-approved! "Lavash is a delicious flatbread that transforms into a thin, cracker-like crust when toasted in the oven," said nutritionist Joy Bauer. "Here, I topped it with arugula, fresh veggies and a tangy balsamic vinaigrette that utilizes heart-smart extra-virgin olive oil. I typically pile on tomatoes, cucumbers, pine nuts and olives, but anything goes — you're the boss of your pizza pie!" Since this meal lacks protein, serve it with rotisserie chicken or sautéed shrimp. |

Her doctor said she needed bariatric surgery. She proved him wrong and lost 110 pounds |
Like many women, Kerri Fitzgerald gained weight after her children were born. "I just took care of my family. I was too tired to take care of me," she says. Over the years, she tried dieting, but the weight wasn't coming off and her blood pressure and cholesterol levels were climbing. Then a heart specialist told Fitzgerald that she might need a heart transplant, and if she did, she would have to weigh 195 pounds or less to qualify. She weighed 257 pounds, and the doctor told her it would be impossible for her to lose the weight without weight-loss surgery. She decided to prove him wrong and two years later, she's lost 110 pounds all on her own. These are the lifestyle changes that helped Kerri lose 110 pounds. |
