As prices climb to 40-year highs everywhere from the gas pump to the grocery store, a report Thursday showed the U.S. economy actually contracted at a 1.4% annual rate in the first three months of the year, after rising nearly 7% at the end of 2021. However, there's good news, too — unemployment is nearing a 50-year low. "You want another job, it's probably out there for you," an economist told us. "Wages are going to be going up and prices are going to be going up too, and it'll be a race between them."

Wisconsin is investigating the first possible death from a mysterious outbreak of acute hepatitis in children.

Health officials in Wisconsin are investigating four cases of severe hepatitis in children, including one death, that could potentially be linked to an outbreak reported across 12 countries. Wisconsin is the fourth state to report cases of the unusual disease and the first to report a death.
