Also known as black cumin, it's high in antioxidants and contains sterols, compounds in plants that may help the body reduce cholesterol. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that may boost brain health.
Its nutrient profile and long history of being a cure-all make this herb intriguing to study. More research is needed and not all medicinal uses have been proven, but black seed oil does seem promising, says dietitian Keri Glassman.
