From avocado toast to barbecue six ways—packing protein into meals and snacks is all the rage. And for good reason—protein is a critical nutrient that helps your body build and repair tissue and muscles. Because it's digested more slowly than carbs, protein also helps you feel more full so you don't hunt for extra snacks.

Both plant and animal protein sources are good, Glassman said, but meat-based protein should usually be limited to about 10 to 15 percent of your diet. There are lots of ways to add protein power to your day. |
